Abstract
The purpose of our contribution was to study the size dependence of the microhardness (Indentation Size Effect - ISE). This effect was investigated for pure copper, aluminum, cadmium and zinc. For the materials investigated the ISE is not artefact and can be explained by the hypothesis of presence of geometrically necessary dislocations.

Cílem předložené práce je studium "Indentation Size Effect"(ISE), tj. jevu., projevujícího se závislostí mikrotvrdosti na velikosti zátěže. Výsledkem studia tohoto jevu na několika čistých kovech (měď, hliník, kadmium a zinek)je závěr, že ISE není artefaktem a je způsoben tzv. geometricky nutnými dislokacemi, vznikajícími v okolí vtisku.
