SN - 9788021062009 KW - c-Myb KW - colorectal carcinoma KW - cytotoxicity KW - signaling pathways N2 - Patients with colorectal carcinomas exhibiting upregulated c-Myb expression have poor prognosis. The aim of our study was to clarify the role of c-Myb in control of the cell death/survival of colorectal carcinoma cells treated with cytotoxic agents. We showed by flow cytometric analysis of cell viability that c-Myb reduced sensitivity of colorectal carcinoma cells to cisplatin and doxorubicin. We found increased level of the phosphorylated p38MAPK and Akt kinases in cells overexpressing c-Myb. We used selective inhibitors of these kinases and we found that increased resistance of colorectal carcinoma cells to cisplatin is caused by c-Myb-dependent activation of p38MAPK signaling pathway.
