Abstract
V originále
This paper is a part of a larger research project whose aim is to investigate teacher expertise in foreign language teaching. Although the main part of the research focuses on educational and psychological aspects of teacher expertise, attention is also paid to the investigation of expert teacher performance, which involves (apart from other aspects) classroom communication. This paper presents selected outcomes of a review of Czech educational research focusing on classroom communication conducted in the past 20 years. First is presented theoretical background, paying special attention to Vygotskian perspectives on classroom communication and interaction. Second are discussed relevant findings obtained in the review. Third are drawn the implications for the research related to examining classroom communication in expert teachers’ performances (in foreign language teaching).
