Abstract
In our study we focused on cytotoxicity of doxorubicin, epirubicin, apodox (apoferritin filled with doxorubicin), and two liposomal forms of doxorubicin (liposome-8 and myocet) for prostate cell lines by using MTT assay and the xCELLigence system (impedance-based method). Three different prostatic cell lines were chosen as a model of prostate cancer (PC-3, LNCaP, and 22Rv1). One prostatic cell line PNT1A was chosen as a model of healthy prostatic tissue. We confirmed the lower toxicity of apodox, liposome-8, and myocet as compared with doxorubicin and epirubicin. In addition, liposome-8 also seems to be more toxic for cancer cells than for healthy prostatic cell line PNT1A.
