Abstract
V originále
Numerous loci communes can be found in the production of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959) and his only Czech pupil Jan Novák (1921-1984). It is particularly their interest in Czech and Moravian folk songs and dances, aesthetics of folk theatre, middle-age passion plays, commedia dell'arte, pastoral motives and folk rhymes. For both of them the choice of these elements was quite natural, stemming from their cultural roots. Their return to the issue of folk culture in the post-war development represents an opposition to the official culture policy of the Czechoslovak state, which asserted production of a "new folklore" corresponding to the needs of the "working class". Renewing of the old in opposition to creating the new represents the framework of this paper. The whole debate should be focused on contradictory problems of values and norms.
