Abstract
We focused on the lectin AFL, which was prepared in recombinant form and characterized. Its binding properties were studied using hemagglutination and glycan array analysis. We determined the specificity of the lectin towards L-fucose and fucosylated oligosaccharides. AFL was crystallized and its structure was solved. The combination of affinity to human epithelial epitopes, production by conidia and pro-inflammatory activity shows that AFL might be an important virulence factor
Abstract (in Czech)
Zaměřili jsme se na lektin AFL, který byl připraven v rekombinantní podobě a charakterizován. Jeho vazebné schopnosti byly studovány pomocí hemaglutinace a glycan array. Zjistili jsme specifitu pro L-fukosu a fukosylované oligosacharidy. AFL byl krystalizován a následně byla vyřešena jeho struktura. Kombinace afinity vůči lidským epiteliálním epitopům, produkce v konidiích a prozánětlivá aktivita naznačují, že AFL by mohl být důležitým faktorem virulence.
