Abstract
In this chapter, I analyze sexological texts written and published during ‘normalization’ (1969-89). My aim is to juxtapose normalization as a historical era with the scientific understanding of its opposite, deviance. Analyzing the discursive renderings of sexual deviance as articulated by the discipline of sexology, I explore the ways in which sexual (and implicitly gender) normalcy was constructed. Also, I capture tensions between the categories of the normal and deviant and its presence and absence in Czechoslovak sexological discourse.
Abstract (in Czech)
Vtéto kapitole analyzuji českoslovesnké sexuologické texty, jež byly napsány a publikovány v období normalizace (1969-89).
