Abstract
Information is everywhere and we are all trying to find our way around. We live in constant infoglut and what could guide us through the maze of the world, are soft skills. We found ourselves incorporating more and more soft skills into courses of English for academic purposes, without actually realising, it was soft skills we taught. And then it dawned on us and a course was born. Originally, it was a course for students but since more and more professionals attended the course, we adapted it to different target groups - i.e. HR managers or teachers. And it worked. Soft skills seem to be the universal topic, the universal answer. Let us look together at the story of how we incorporated soft skills into university curriculum. Here are a few areas that we covered - discovering one's multiple intelligencies, making good use of one's intuition, cultural awareness, appreciation of difference(s), personal SWOT analysis - transforming weaknesses into strengths etc. We dealt with a variety of needs and we felt that soft skills united people. What represents a challenge in teaching usually becomes a real advantage with soft skills. Individuals bringing in their experience enrich the classes with new perspectives, new ideas. And we only wonder how (in)tangible they are. The workshop will tackle some of the issues and demonstrate some of the activities that worked because, soft skills will come in handy for everybody both on professional and personal level. Listen to your intuition and join us to learn more...
