N2 - It is a grand challenge to teach students coming to our seminars from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, to meet their needs and expectations and to fullfill the requirements of faculties. The variety and heterogenity of our classes is both motivating and limiting at the same time. I found inspiration in Autonomous Learning Modules that are offered at the Language Centre in University of Helsinki and we created our first module course. The students follow a certain framework which functions as a support forthem and at the same time they are forced to take a larger part in thelearning process, including decision making, taking responsibility, self-reflecting etc. System of modules enables the students to taylor the course to their own needs, individually, depending on their needs and experience. The whole course will be challenging for both the teachers with their new role and students as partners and experts on their own learning.
