Abstract
This article deals with interpretation of temporal meaning of Old Russian participles. It introduces currently accepted hypotheses, confronts them with each other and based on this confrontation presents its own hypothesis. In doing so, it draws particularly on analogical methods, whereby participial and verbal systems are confronted with analogical system of Turkic languages. On the basis of this analysis its author maintains that at least participles may have been in the Proto-Slavonic as well as in the Old-Russian period organised on the basis of contrast of terminativeness : interminativeness of action, in other words that suffixes belonging to category of participles A may have fulfilled the role of shifters between these two temporal-aspectual meanings.
