The paper discusses the roles of specific e-learning tools that were used in developing study materials for EMP (English for medical purposes) courses. The tools being freely available to Masaryk university academic staff within the university’s Information System played an important role in enhancing successful language learning. They (1) supported the students in their learning both medical English and test skills, (2) helped the teacher in his efforts to make the lessons more effective and relevant to the students, and (3) provided valuable feedback concerning the validity of the created e-learning study materials. To confirm the usefulness of the materials, a student opinion poll was also carried out to find out what the students thought of the materials. The results of the poll demonstrate that they were generally satisfied with the e-learning study materials, frequently suggesting additional improvements as to their structure, content, and type.
