Abstract

Kniha představuje aktuální teoretické poznatky o problematice mentálního postižení doplněné výsledky realizovaných výzkumů a zkušeností z praxe. Má pomoci především rodičům dětí s mentálním postižením zorientovat se v problematice. Do knihy byla zařazena témata, s nimiž by se rodiče dětí s postižením měli seznámit, například postavení rodiny ve společnosti, sourozenci dětí s mentálním postižením a inkluzivní vzdělávání. Věnuje se i konkrétním praktickým problémům, například rozvoji sebeobsluhy nebo komunikačních schopností. Kniha obsahuje řadu kazuistik a příkladů z praxe. Kniha je určena rodičům dětí s mentálním, ale i jiným postižením, pedagogům, odborníkům, studentům a dalším zájemcům.

Abstract (in English)

The book presents theoretical information on intellectual disability supplemented by experience from practice, case studies, research findings, and insights of experts and parents. Theory is introduced only briefly; there is more space devoted to examples of its application in practice. The book provides an overview of existing support for children with intellectual disabilities and the best possible support of their development. Many of them are mainly supported during the school age; therefore the book extensively describes education and intervention in schools and presents fi ndings from teaching practice, based on participatory observations and direct work with pupils. The aim of the book is to file instructions for the reader’s own work in practice – for parents, teachers, and volunteers or professionals. The information and findings may al so serve to students of special and social pedagogy, psychology, sociology and other interested readers, whom the text should help gain a human insight into the issue.
