Kniha je výstupem řešení projektu podpořeného grantem GA ČR P407/11/0234. Spolupráce dr. Tůmy byla podpořena grantem EE2.3.30.0009. Jejím cílem je přispět k současnému stavu poznání kvality v profesi učitele výzkumem charakteristik učitele experta. Kniha představuje výsledky výzkumu expertnosti a determinant jejího rozvoje (na pozadí cizojazyčné výuky). Výstupy přinášejí informace využitelné ve společenské praxi, konkrétně např. pro transformaci přípravného i dalšího vzdělávání učitelů, pro tvorbu standardu kvality v profesi učitele a, v neposlední řadě, mohou přispět ke zvýšení prestiže učitelské profese.

The book is an outcome of a research project supported by the grant P407/11/0234 provided by the Czech Science Foundation. Cooperation of dr. Tůma was supported by grant EE2.3.30.0009. It aims to contribute to the current state of arts in the field quality in the teaching profession through the research of expert teacher characteristics. The book presents results of research on teacher expertise and on the determinants of its development (in foreign language teaching perspective). The results may provide information critical for reshaping and transforming pre-graduate as well as further teacher education, for setting the standards of quality in teaching and, last but not least, for raising the status of the teaching profession.
