Abstract

The main goal of the research conducted among street musicians in Brno was to make the first inquiry aimed at the life of this specific group and create a picture of a phenomenon of Brno's public space that has not been described yet. The work presents twelve respondents' profiles that include their musical background that influenced the individual musicians. A part of the semi-structured interviews was also the question of triggering stimuli and motivation to play on the street and a contribution to the society through the art. A very important area of the survey were interpersonal relationships in the community, cooperativeness versus rivalry, the ways of starting relationships and the musicians' coexistence. An important milestone in the history of busking in Brno is a protest happening which was a reaction to a new decree banning street music production in Brno. The counter reaction by the public was unexpectedly very strong which may reflect local people's attitude towards the production. Brno's buskers also organized a charity busking, which spontaneously joined very different personality types and which has been quite successful among local citizens. Apart from the semi-structured interviews the author chose the method of participant observation and direct participation in musical events. Brno busker scene is an institution with a stable pillar in the form of individual performers, but on the other hand, has a very dynamic appearance and it would be interesting to watch its progress.

Abstract (in Czech)

Hlavním cílem výzkumu mezi pouličními muzikanty v Brně bylo přinést první etnografickou sondu do života této specifické skupiny a nastínit tak charakter dosud nepopsaného fenoménu brněnského veřejného prostoru. Práce představila medailony vybraných dvanácti respondentů, v nichž byl vylíčeno jejich hudební pozadí, které jednotlivé hudební osobnosti formulovalo. Polostrukturované rozhovory rovněž zahrnovaly otázku prvotních stimulů a vůbec motivace ke hře na ulici a také vnímání svého umění jako sociálního přínosu. Neméně důležitou oblastí výzkumu byly interpersonální vztahy v komunitě, zda převyšuje kolegiálnost či rivalita, jak aktéři vztahy navazují a jakým způsobem koexistují. Důležitým mezníkem v historii brněnského buskingu se stal protestní happening, který byl odpovědí na ustanovenou vyhlášku, zakazující pouliční hudební produkci v Brně. Vlna odporu ze strany veřejnosti byla až překvapivě velká, což může do jisté míry zrcadlit přístup místních obyvatel k této produkci. Brněnští muzikanti též uspořádali benefiční busking, který spontánně spojil velice rozdílné typy osobností a v řadách veřejnosti byl poměrně úspěšný. Kromě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů autorka zvolila metodu zúčastněného pozorování a přímé participace na hudebních akcích. Brněnská buskerská scéna je instituce se stabilními pilíři v podobě jednotlivých performerů, avšak na druhou stranu má velice dynamickou podobu a bylo by zajímavé sledovat dále její vývoj.
