Abstract
On the examples of films associated with labour campaigns coordinated by the Labour Institute during the pre-war era of democratic liberalism, during the Nazi occupation, immediately after the war, and after communist coup in 1948, this paper demonstrates in which aspects the rhetoric of labour education remained the same and in which it differed under these four different political conditions. Based on this survey it also highlights the importance to explore state-socialist media campaigns as significantly pre-conditioned by previous media-political practices in particular national contexts.
