Abstract

CoUnSiL is a videoconferencing environment for remote interpretation of speech into sign language with focus on teaching. The CoUnSiL is based on CoUniverse middleware for orchestration of collaborative environments and UltraGrid system for low-latency transmission of high-quality video over network. Behaviour of the CoUnSiL depends on a role selected by user (typically one of teacher, interpreter, or student). User interface of the CoUnSiL is adapted to applications in teaching and user roles. The interface self-adapts itself to number of participants of the communication. The CoUnSiL supports indepent teaching in multiple concurrent sessions and works under Windows, Linux, and MacOS OS families. The owner of the result is Masaryk University, a public high school, ID: 00216224. Masaryk University allows other companies and individuals to use this software free of charge and without territorial restrictions under the terms of the BSD license. This permission is granted for the duration of property rights. This software is not subject to special information treatment according to Act No. 412/2005 Coll., as amended. In case that a person who will use the software under this license offer violates the license terms, the permission to use the software terminates.
