Abstract
Abstract (in English)
Motivation is a term which plays a crucial role in learning. It refers to a process that elicits, controls, and sustains certain behaviours. The author presents processes of teaching Polish as a foreign language in the academic environment of Czech and Slovak students of Polish Studies, describing their motivation (sometimes false), expectations and some difficulties that might appear during the teaching process. The author emphasises that adult education can be driven by certain level of motivation caused by the teacher (using certain techniques), not forgetting the crucial role of student self-motivation.
