Abstract

Cílem tohoto přehledového článku je seznámit čtenáře se základními koncepty, které se vážou ke stigmatizaci psychiatrie a duševních onemocnění. Stigma je pojednáno širší perspektivou společenských věd i užší perspektivou specifickou pro oblast duševního zdraví. V oblasti duševního zdraví je stigma nahlíženo jako problém znalostí, postojů a jednání. Diskutovány jsou role jednotlivých aktérů v procesu stigmatizace, fenomén sebestigmatizace, možnosti měření a snižování míry stigmatizace ve společnosti. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována kontextu České republiky.

Abstract (in English)

The aim of this review paper is to introduce fundamental concepts related to stigma in psychiatry and mental illness. Stigma is characterized within both, broader perspective of social sciences and narrower perspective specific to the field of mental health. In terms of mental health field, stigma is seen as a problem of knowledge, attitudes and bevavior. The role of social actors in the proces of stigmatization, the phenomenon of self-stigmatization, as well as possibilities of measuring and decreasing the level of stigmatization in society are all discussed. Special attention is given to the context of the Czech Republic.
