TY - JOUR ID - 1301073 AU - Papoušek, Jan - Pelánek, Radek PY - 2015 TI - Impact of Adaptive Educational System Behaviour on Student Motivation PB - Springer International Publishing CY - Madrid SN - 9783319197722 KW - adaptive educational system KW - item difficulty KW - optimal challenge KW - experimental evaluation UR - http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-19773-9_35 N2 - In this work we try to connect research on student modeling and student motivation, particularly on the relation between task difficulty and engagement. We perform experiments within widely used adaptive practice system for geography learning. The results document the impact of the choice of a question construction algorithm and target difficulty on student perception of question suitability and on their willingness to use the system. We also propose and evaluate a mechanism for a dynamic difficulty adjustment. ER -
