Abstract
Positive solutions of fourth-order nonlinear difference equations with a deviating argument are investigated. We present a classification of nonoscillatory solutions which is based on their asymptotic behaviour and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the so-called minimal and maximal solutions.
