Abstract

Central European Journal of Canadian Studies, Vol. 9 is a collection of articles, in English and French, covering a variety of areas in Canadian Studies. A lengthy interview with the Black Canadian poet and playwright explores issues relating to his work and the role of the contemporary intellectual. Four new, previously unpublished poems by Clarke are also included. The second, and most substantial section of the issue brings articles in the areas of literature, drama, translation studies, sociolinguists, multiculturalism and cultural nationalism. Finally, there is a selection of reviews of new books whose authors are for the most part Canadianists in the Central European region as well as reports on conferences of Canadianists in Grainu, Germany and Baia Mare, Romania.

Časopis kanadských studií ve střední Evropě, č. 9, je sborník anglicky a francouzsky psaných příspěvků, které zahrnují širokou škálu témat v oblasti kanadských studií. Dlouhý rozhovor s afro-černošským kanadským básníkem a dramatikem Georgem Elliottem Clarkem se zabývá otázkami spojenými s jeho dílem a s úlohou intelektuálů v současnosti. Čtyři jeho básně se tady publikují poprvé. Druhá, nejrozsáhlejší část časopisu se věnuje článkům v oblasti literatury, divadla, translatologie, sociolingvistiky, multikulturalismu a kulturního nacionalismu. Třetí část přináší několik recenzí nových knih, jejichž autoři jsou povětšině kanadisti ze střední Evropy a zprávy o konferencích kanadistů v Grainau, Něměcku a Baia Mare, Rumunsku.
