PY - 2015 TI - RELATION OF VIRAL ETIOLOGY OF OROPHARYNGEAL TUMORS TO THE RESPONSE RATE OF TREATMENT MODALITIES KW - oropharyngeal tumor N2 - Objectives: HPV status itself might be considered as the strongest prognostic factor in oropharyngeal cancer (OPC). Although therapy guidelines have not taken HPV status into account yet, it is expected that it will determine the type of treatment in the near future. The aim of the study was to compare the treatment outcomes between patients in surgical and nonsurgical branch with respect to the HPV status. Conclusions: Patients with HPV positive tumors have better prognosis regardless of the treatment modality. HPV has proved itself as the strongest predictor of overall and specific survival. ER -
