Abstract

Přesvědčen, že strukturalismus nabízí pozitivní program pro budoucnost, přistupuje autor k vymezení pojmů strukturalismus a sémiotika. Ty v mejnstrímových viděních často splývají, navíc se o nich běžně mluví s paušálním odkazem na několik málo symbolických titulů bez skutečného porozumění pro ona díla a jejich souvislosti. Stoleté dějiny strukturalismu nelze uchopit jinak než jako rozsáhlé korpusy odborných textů, sebrané podle explicitních kritérií. Hlavním kritériem je jistý noetický postoj ke zkoumané skutečnosti, dalšími kritérii jsou specifické přístupy k bifaciálnímu jazykovému znaku; vše je podrobně ukázáno na několika strukturalistických ohniscích a školách. Usilovat o delimitaci strukturalismu a sémiotiky je málo užitečné. Lépe je sdílet strukturalistickou zkušenost všude, kde to jde. Strukturalismus je svým původem lingvistický. Berme strukturální lingvistiku jako sémiotiku textů, psaných i mluvených, pojatých co kulturně-historické řečové události (lingvistika je ze své podstaty filologická, ba hermeneutická) a podporujme sémiotiku tam, kde máme za úkol vyložit neméně složité kulturně-historické události jiné než – čistě, převážně – řečové. Překryvy neřečového a řečového jsou nevyhnutelné – a je to tak dobře.

Abstract (in English)

Convinced that structuralism offers a positive programme for the future, the author approaches the delimitation of the terms "structuralism" and "semiotics". It is because in mainstream views these terms tend to overlap, and further, they are often talked about referring to a few symbolic book titles without an actual understanding of these works and their context. The centennial history of structuralism can only be approached as vast corpora of specialized texts collected according to explicit criteria. The main criterion is a certain epistemological stance on researched facts, other criteria include specific approaches to the bifacial linguistic sign; everything is shown in detail on several structuralist centres and schools. There is little use in trying to delimit structuralism and semiotics. Rather, structuralist experience should be shared wherever possible. The origins of structuralism are linguistic. Let's understand structural linguistics as semiotics of texts, written and spoken, seen as cultural-historical speech events (linguistics is by nature philological, even hermeneutical), and let's support semiotics where our task is to explain cultural-historical events that are no less complex than the – purely, or mainly – speech ones. Overlaps between the speech and the non-speech are inevitable – and that is a good thing.
