Abstract
V originále
The paper seeks to provide arguments against the commonly held view that the presence/absence of a directional phrase decides on the verb's unaccusative/unergative status. What seems to play a crucial role is whether the subject argument in structures with manner of motion verbs is in full control of the movement or not. The arguments of path verbs fall outside the agent/patient classification; path verbs thus fall outside the unaccusative/unergative distinction.
