Abstract

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the G. j. Mendel scientific heritage, that significantly influenced genetics and evolutionary biology, we have organised a series of lectures given by leading international scientists, curators and artists from the fields of new media art and Bio Art particularly called #Mendel 2.0. The Lecture series aimed at to provide examples of the development of Mendel’s scientific discoveries abstracted from observation of nature, in a seemingly distant discipline to natural sciences - in artistic strategies, aesthetic preferences and theoretical concepts applied in digital art and new media art in general.

U příležitosti 150. výročí vědeckého odkazu G. J. Mendela, který zásadním způsobem ovlivnil vědní obory genetiku a evoluční biologii, jsme připravili sérii přednášek předních zahraničních vědců, kurátorů a umělců z oblasti umění nových umění a především Bio Artu nazvanou #Mendel 2.0, která měla za cíl poukázat na příklady rozvíjení jeho vědeckých poznatků, abstrahovaných z pozorování živé přírody, v oblasti jen zdánlivě vzdálené přírodním vědám – v uměleckých strategiích, estetických preferencích a teoretických koncepcích uplatňovaných v digitálním umění a umění nových médií obecně.
