Abstract
The paper studies the deeds of pledge issued by Sigismund of Luxembourg to Bohemian recipients, concentrating on their financial aspects. It analyses the amounts of the pledges in relation to the value and income from the pledged property, as well as to the duties and obligations that the recipients fulfilled in return. It uses new sources to deepen the existing historical understanding of these deeds and, in particular, emphasises the importance of the bargaining position of the pledge holder.
