Abstract
The paper deals with the issue of developmental threats, disruptions and their screening and prevention in school settings. Contemporary practices fail especially at the stage of practical implementation and don’t provide enough quality baseline data for decision–making processes. In response to the current state we propose the adjustment of methodology for work with students in context of developmental threats. The concept of the methodology is based both on the principles of risk management, and on proposal of implementation of existing tool for data collecting – the California Healthy Kids Survey. The proposed methodology allows in particular to better capture acting developmental processes and clearly respond to them by addressing two important issues: the method of obtaining quality data that enable to identify emerging risks, and systematic approach to assessment of risks and targeted solutions. That offers the data for decision–making processes and clear definition of competencies/tasks, which produce support for staff in the field of education. Presented arguments and benefits support the need for further discussion on this issue. The methodology could be one of the steps of streamlining the helping in dealing with the developmental threats.
