Abstract

The main aim of my paper can be briefly described as an attempt to understand how people perceive moral agents, how they ascribe concepts to them, and on what basis they blame them and determine sufficient punishment for their actions. To do that, I will put into context several branches of research in the area of morality, which operate with the same components. Specifically, empirical research dealing with the problem of folk concept of intentionality (asymmetrical ascription caused by different moral character of an act/side-effect of an act), furthermore research dealing with moral luck, and culpable control.

Hlavní cíl příspěvku může být stručně popsán jako pokus o porozumění tomu, jak lidé vnímají morální agenty, jak jim připisují koncepty a na jakém základě je viní a rozhodují o přiměřeném trestu za jejich činy. Abych tohoto dosáhla, propojím několik linií výzkumů v oblasti morálky, které pracují se stejnými komponenty. Konkrétně empirický výzkum týkající se problému lidového konceptu záměrného jednání (asymetrické připsání způsobené rozdílným morálním nábojem činu nebo vedlejšího účinku činu), dále výzkum zabývající se morálním štěstím a trestuhodnou kontrolou.
