Abstract

The overall objective of this study is to analyze objective and subjective factors involved in wildlife attacks, focusing mainly on three factors that contribute to determine wildlife attacks (spatial, temporal and social) on people and consequences in victims’ lives and livelihoods in and around Chitwan National Park, Nepal. Additionally, the study assessed injury severity of victims. Specific objectives are to identify objective and subjective factors involved in wildlife attacks on people; to examine the extent of injured victims’ life and livelihood conditions; and to contribute suggestions to reform existing management practices for human wildlife co-existence in the buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park and similar landscapes.

Abstract (in Czech)

Celkovým cílem této studie je analyzovat objektivní a subjektivní faktory zapojené do útoků divoké zvěře na lidi se zaměřením především na tři faktory, které podmiňují tyto útoky (prostorové, časové a sociální) na lidi a vedou k následkům v životech obětí a jejich domácnostech v NP Chitwan a jeho okolí v Nepálu. Kromě toho studie hodnotila závažnost zranění obětí. Specifické cíle mají sloužit ke zjišťování objektivních a subjektivníxh faktorů ovlivňujících útoky divoké zvěře na lidi; prozkoumání dopadu zranění na život obětí a podmínky obživy a mají přispět návrhům na reformu stávajících postupů pro management spolužití lidí a volně žijících živočichů v nárazníkové zóně Národního parku Chitwan a v podobných oblastech.
