TY - CONF ID - 1355364 AU - Juřík, Vojtěch - Nehyba, Jan - Šašinka, Čeněk - Vlčková, Kamila - Chmelařová, Kateřina - Pospíchal, Jan - Ugwitz, Pavel - Chmelík, Jiří PY - 2016 TI - Embodied Morality : The influence of body on moral judgement KW - Embodiment embodied cognition decision-making morality moral dilemma UR - http://www.spao.eu/spo-information.php L2 - http://www.spao.eu/spo-information.php N2 - In everyday life people have to make decisions, which can be classified as moral or immoral. In some studies the aspects of moral decision making were explored by asking the participants about their opinion in hypothetical, morally fuzzy dilemmas. Some theories, however, suggest the direct inclusion of body based schemata in the process of cognition as well as the impact of specific situation on the human decision-making. In many areas of human endeavor such as crisis management, aviation or nuclear safety the moral judgement is the crucial issue in life threatening matters. Regarding this fact, it is necessary to consider the influence of the specific situation on the decision-making of the operator, especially from the moral judgement point of view. With the use of virtual reality environment we try to highlight human moral decision-making in immersive, real-simulated situations. The aim of our research is to examine the real-time interaction of a person with the immersive virtual situation, which are morally ambiguous. We highlight the role of embodiment in the real-time active decision-making compared to hypothetical, verbally/paper given moral dilemma. ER -
