Abstract
V originále
The contents of this chapter are a comparison of the secondary school geography curriculum in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. We are fully aware that the concepts as well as the contents of geographic education differ in every single country with respect to geographical knowledge, due to the country’s history, language and culture. In other words, every curriculum is influenced by its national context. The creators of the geography curriculum will find lots of topics on how to teach designed to promote learning. The chapter will be divided into three main subchapters devoted to geographic education in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Each of these subchapters can provide an understanding of the general educational system in these countries, current issues, developments, problems, changes, and trends in teaching geography. At the same time, attention will be paid to the strengths and weaknesses of current geographic education. The final summary will be targeted at the comparison of selected teaching processes and approaches in a broader international especially Central European context.
