The phenomenon was documented by high-speed camera imaging. Observation of this phenomena even on dielectric material of standard dielectric permittivity suggests, that it may be a process inherently associated with coplanar DBDs. Only its extremely low intensity prevents its detection during the routine measurements. Furthermore the pre-Townsend event was detected even in argon streamer-mechanism controlled discharge, when the filament was stabilized using point to plane electrode configuration. ER -
