Abstract

L’article se donne pour l’objectif d’affiner une méthode d’analyse descriptive, pouvant servir dans le cadre épistémologique des Descriptives Translation Studies et de la théorie du polysysteme. L’enjeu consiste essentiellement a circonscrire l’unité d’analyse en rapport avec les procédés de traduction traditionnels (emprunt, calque, traduction littérale, transposition, modulation, équivalence, adaptation), définis en 1958 par Jean-Paul Vinay et Jean Darbelnet. Le présent article vise a associer les apports de la stylistique comparée avec l’application du polysysteme sur les études descriptives de traduction et de proposer une méthode d’analyse qualitative et quantitative sur corpus de texte sources et cibles. La méthode pourrait etre profitable notamment pour les études dans le domaine de l’histoire de la traduction (dans la phase de la « critique historique » selon la taxonomie de la discipline formulée par A. Pym).

Abstract (in English)

The article aims to refine a method of descriptive analysis, which can be used in the epistemological framework of the Descriptive Translation Studies and the theory of the polysystem. The challenge is essentially to define the unit of analysis in relation to traditional translation methods (borrowing, loan translation, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence, adaptation), defined in 1958 by Jean-Paul Vinay and Jean Darbelnet. This article aims to associate the contributions of comparative stylistics with the application of the polysystem on the descriptive studies of translation and to propose a method of qualitative and quantitative analysis on corpus of text sources and targets. The method could be profitable especially for studies in the field of the history of translation (in the phase of "historical criticism" according to the taxonomy of the discipline formulated by A. Pym).
