Kapitola je zaměřena na elektronické aplikace v prezentaci dějin měst na příkladu Internetové encyklopedie dějin Brna. Jedním z hlavních motivů vedoucích ke vzniku tohoto projektu byla snaha o zkvalitnění celkového stavu poznání v oblasti brněnské historické topografie doplněním poznatků z různých oblastí dějin města. Internetová síť se logicky stala jedinou možnou základnou pro technické řešení, které tyto požadavky dokázalo naplnit. Obsahově je encyklopedie rozdělena do tematických sekcí (např. osobnosti, události, ulice, objekty, stavby atd.). Samozřejmou součástí všech hesel jsou kromě autorských značek také citace použitých pramenů a literatury. Zdrojem nových poznatků se stává i vzájemná vazba s uživateli encyklopedie. Součástí každého hesla je přímý e-mailový kontakt na autora. Obecné podněty, dotazy či připomínky je možné zasílat na kontaktní adresy užšího týmu vedení encyklopedie.

The chapter focuses on electronic applications in the presentation of the history of cities on the example of the Internet Encyclopedia of the History of Brno. One of the main motives to result in the creation of this project was an effort to enhance the overall status of knowledge in the field of Brno historic topography by means of complementation of the knowledge from various spheres of the history of the city. Logically, the Internet network has become the only possible base for a technical solution capable of fulfilling this demand. In terms of contents the Encyclopaedia is divided into thematic sections (e.g. important persons, events, streets, objects, buildings etc.). Apart from authorial initials an obvious part of all headings is quoting of sources and literature. The mutual link with the users of the Encyclopedia becomes also a source of new knowledge. A direct e-mail contact to the author is a part of each heading. General incentives, queries or comments may be sent to the contact addresses of the immediate circle of the people in charge of the Encyclopedia.
