Abstract
Using the method of conceptual discourse analysis in English and French parallel texts, the aim of the presentation is to identify and functionally explain the effects that the use of figurative language and imagery in different language versions of the same discourse has on creating of the overall image of a destination presented to the reader. Based on the results, the presentation attempts at formulating, comparing and contrasting the principal tendencies in shaping the message in anglophone and francophone destination advertising.
