Abstract

Human rights bring us not only benefits or privileges, but also responsibilities. The lecture focuses on the Christian concept of being human as a good steward to whom the world has been entrusted as a gift. Being responsible starts with the care of ourselves but goes far beyond to the extent of becoming aware of the problems concerning our societies and environment resulting in active citizenship. The lecture briefly touches upon the development of human rights and then moves on to human responsibilities springing (not only) out of the concept of Good Stewardship. In the latter part a short activity based on the principles of experiential education is introduced in order to become aware of one´s own approach to rights, laws, rules and possible civil (dis)obedience.

Abstract (in Czech)

Lidská práva přináší nejen jistoty a spravedlnost, ale také povinnosti. Přednáška se soustředí na křesťanskou zvěst o stvoření člověka k obrazu božímu (Imago Dei) a tedy i k dobrému správcovství, jež bylo člověku dáno jako dar. Zodpovědnost za stvoření začíná péčí o sebe sama a jde dál k uvědomění si problémů spojených s lidskou společností, životním prostředím a vrcholí aktivním občanstvím. Přednáška se též bude letmo týkat vývoje lidských práv v souvislosti s křesťanstvím a zaměří se na povinnosti, které vyplývají ze stvoření člověka k obrazu božímu. V závěru bude součástí přednášky i jedna aktivita pro studenty (založená na principu zážitkové pedagogiky), při které budou student moci reflektovat své postoje vůči právům, zákonům a případné občanské (ne)poslušnosti.
