As historians have noticed, the Cistercian abbots created through their writings, preachings and actions a model for fighting against the religious minorities, which influenced the next generations. The two figures that appear dominantly in the works on the Cistercian polemical engagement of the second half of the 12th century are Bernard of Clairvaux and Henry of Marcy, who undoubtedly marked by their personalities the discourse and the actions against heresy. In this presentation, however, I would like to analyse certain passages from the anti-heretical discourse of another Cistercian abbot, who was also active in the struggle against heresy, in the years between 1145 up to his death after 1188.
