Abstract
Modern complex computer systems such as clouds and critical infrastructures such as intelligent building require a reliable monitoring to ensure detection of failures or security breaches, allow fast recovery and serve for accounting and auditing purposes. The paper describes the requirements and conceptualization of computer system and intelligent building monitoring using a newly proposed Monitoring system reference framework.
