Abstract

Žijeme ve světě změn. Proměňuje se společnost, mění se naše sídla a krajina, mění se příroda, měníme se my sami. Změna je akt i proces, který neprobíhá ve vzduchoprázdnu. Uskutečňuje se ve hmotném časoprostoru, který ovlivňuje jeho směr i dynamiku. Prostředí může změny urychlit či naopak jim bránit, a to často nezávisle na úmyslu hybatelů změn. Proměnlivost prostorů a míst znemožňuje interpretovat svět tradičně jako relativně stabilní systém. Podle Castellse je tradiční „prostor míst“ nahrazován „prostorem toků“. Je stabilita jen iluzí a ze světa samotného se stal spíše proces, či dokonce systém vzájemně se ovlivňujících procesů? Jsou místa pouhými okamžiky na průsečíku těchto procesů, jak to již kdysi tvrdil Tuan? Lze v takovém světě stále hledat řád a pravidelnosti nebo je lepší mluvit o nahodilé proměnlivosti?

Abstract (in English)

We live in a world of change. Society is changing, our lands and landscapes are changing, nature is changing, we change ourselves. Change is an act and a process that does not take place in the vacuum. It takes place in material space, which influences its direction and dynamics. The environment can speed up or prevent changes, often independent of the intention of change movers. Variability of spaces and places makes it impossible to interpret the world traditionally as a relatively stable system. According to Castells, the traditional "space of places" is replaced by "space of streams". Is it just an illusion and the world itself has become a process, or even a system of interacting processes? Are there places just moments at the intersection of these processes, as Tuan once said? Can such a world still be looking for order and regularity or is it better to talk about random variability?
