Abstract

Monografie Čeští novináři v komparativní perspektivě: Hybridní, virtuální a mizející žurnalisté v post-transformační fázi hledá v sedmi kapitolách příčiny profesní krize novinářské profese v euroamerickém kontextu. Analýza se soustřeďuje nejen na příčiny ztráty důvěryhodnosti českých novinářů, ale dotýká se celého procesu jejich profesní socializace, který probíhá v rámu post-transformační oligarchizace domácího mediálního systému, pod vlivem hybridizace a virtualizace profesních praxí a vede k prohlubování profesně-identitního štěpení. Studie vychází ze čtyř kvantitativních a dvou kvalitativních výzkumů realizovaných mezi domácími novináři a z komparativního výzkumu českých, polských a švédských studentů žurnalistiky. Text tak přibližuje hodnotové i profesní postoje novinářů a jejich proměny v poslední post-transformační fázi polistopadového budování nového mediálního systému, tedy v etapě, kdy vnější i vnitřní ekonomicko – technologické, ale i geopolitické změny prohlubují naznačenou profesní krizi. Analýza formou několika komparativních řezů nabízí jak porovnání postojů domácích novinářů v uplynulých patnácti letech, tak i jejich srovnání se zahraničními žurnalisty.

Abstract (in English)

The monograph/book Czech Journalists in Comparative Perspective characterizes Czech journalists’ values and professional attitudes and the transmutations of these in the last post-transformational phase of post-November building of the new media system, in the phase when the outer and the inner economic-technological but also geopolitical changes have been resulting in the mentioned professional crisis. The study is based on five quantitative and qualitative analysis realised between 2003 and 2016. Study is composed in the form of two comparative perspectives. It does both, compares the attitudes of Czech journalists in the last 15 years, and it compares them to their selected foreign colleagues. The text describes Czech journalists in seven chapters, linked together by the aim to capture the causes of the professional crisis as well as the potential for its solution. Thus, it looks for the roots of the credibility loss of Czech journalists, but it also relates to the whole process of professional socialization coming about under the influence of hybridization and virtualization of professional practice and relations, both of which deepen the professional identity split of Czech journalists. These processes are discernible already with domestic journalism students who have been compared to their Polish and Swedish counterparts. Towards the end, the study depicts Czech journalists in generational optics and poses a question whether the post-transitional phase brings generational differentiation with itself, or to what extent the performance of journalistic role is being formed by generational experience viewed in historical-power perspective.
