Abstract

Konference je součástí projektu Ideál: Zlín, který Národní technické muzeum realizuje ve spolupráci s Filozofickou fakultou a Fakultou sociálních studií Masarykovy univerzity. Cílem projektu je poskytnout hlubší znalost o sociokulturních, politických i ekonomických proměnách, kterými tovární město Zlín prošlo během bouřlivého 20. století, v době proměn sociálních, ekonomických i politických režimů. Badatelský tým projektu však nezajímá pouze Zlín jako odraz historických zvratů, ale také jako místo každodenního života jeho obyvatel sledujících velké dějiny často jen zpovzdálí. Cílem jednodenní konference není diskutovat pouze proměny Zlína, ale rovněž dalších továrních a industriálních měst v souvislostech jejich historických proměn i současného stavu. Budeme se věnovat i způsobu, jakým akademický výzkum vstupuje do veřejné diskuze a zda se vědě daří ovlivňovat ji tak, jak si představují.

Abstract (in English)

The conference is a part of the Ideal: Zlín project carried out by the National Technical Museum in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University. The project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural, political and economic changes that the company town of Zlín went through during the turbulent 20th century, i.e. in an era of social, economic and political transformation and successive regime changes. Nevertheless, the research team is not only interested in Zlín as a reflection of significant historical events, but also as a place where the inhabitants live their everyday lives and often witness great historic moments as passers-by. This one-day conference aims to discuss the transformations of the city of Zlín as well as those of other company and industrial towns in the context of their historical changes and their current situations. We will also focus on the way the academic research enters the field of public discussion and the question of whether scholars manage to influence the public discussion as much as they hope to.
