Abstract
The corrosion of metals leads to the degradation of a material and to the formation of various types corrosion products as a result of spontaneous interaction between metal and the environment. As regard the preservation of objects of cultural heritage, it can comprise application of protective coatings, very often containing a corrosion inhibitor, not damaging the object itself and not changing its external appearance. Among classical methods how to protect metal objects against corrosion is the application of waxes. This work deals with the anticorrosive influence of natural and synthetic waxes on steel and copper samples. This study comprises the results of our investigations with pure waxes at the one hand and on the other hand with mixtures of wax with corrosion inhibitor, e.g. salt nitrites for steel samples and 1,2,3-benzotriazole for copper ones. Natural beeswax and carnauba wax, further synthetic waxes (PP wax, PE wax and esters of montanic acid) were chosen for our comparative studies. Metal samples, covered with wax films, were investigated by experiments on air.

Koroze kovů způsobuje degradaci materiálu a vytvoření různých druhů korozních produktů. Jednou z možností ochrany kovových památek proti korozi je aplikace ochranných nátěrů, které často obsahují inhibitor koroze, nesmí však poškozovat objekt ani nijak měnit jeho vzhled. Tato práce se zabývá antikorozním vlivem přírodních a syntetických vosků na ocelové a měděné vzorky. Srovnává čisté vosky a jejich směsi s korozními inhibitory.
