Zahájení léčby hypertenze je závislé na hodnotě vstupního tlaku a na zjištěném kardiovaskulárním riziku daného jedince. K léčbě využíváme všech pět základních skupin antihypertenzív. Použitím moderních fixních kombinací dosahujeme v populaci vyššího procenta cílových hodnot krevního tlaku. Jsou zkoumány nové možnosti nefarmakologického ovlivnění hypertenze.

The decision as to when initiate treatment of hypertension depends on baseline blood pressure and established cardiovascular risk of a given individual. Treatment is performed usingall five main classes of antihypertensive agents. Use of modern fixed combinations helps achieve goal blood pressure levels in a higher proportion of the population. New options of non-pharmacological treatment of hypertension are being investigated.
