Abstract

Kniha sestává ze dvou částí, první část představuje kritické vydání Jislova osobního cestovního deníku po Číně a druhá část zahrnuje odborné studie několika autorů, jakož i vzpomínky na jeho práci a vědecké působení. Cestovní deník je datován od 6. září 1957 do 10. února 1957, kdy Lumír Jisl extenzivně cestoval po archeologických nalezištích a monumentálních buddhistických komplexech v Čínské lidové republice. Deník je doprovázen množstvím nikdy nepublikovaných barevných i černobílých fotografií z jeho cestování. Vedle samotného deníku, doprovázeného množstvím vysvětlujících poznámek pod čarou od obou editorů, čtyř odborných studií a tří vzpomínek, je kniha doprovázená několika mapami, podrobným rejstříkem jak jmenným, geografickým, tak i tematickým a bibliografií.

Abstract (in English)

The book consists of two main parts – the critical edition of the travelogue and four expert studies. The main part of the book is represented by the private travel diary of the Czechoslovak archaeologist and Buddhologist Lumír Jisl. The text covers his stay in the People’s Republic of China from 6 September 1957 to 10 February 1958 and it openly and critically captures the atmosphere of Chinese everyday life. Jisl portrayed in a vivid way mainly diverse Buddhist and other temples, rock and cave sacral complexes, and other significant monuments of Chinese history. He supplemented his records with color and black and white photographs. The manuscript of the diary was preserved along with the negatives in the family archive and has not been published until now. Apart from the diary itself, the book contains accompaniment wealth of visual material, several recollections of Jisl’s contemporaries and four specialist studies devoted to the religious and Sinological context. A detailed index, cartographic attachment and extensive footnotes form an integral part of the book.
