Abstract

Linguistic langscapes sind alltägliche Phänomene, wie der Gebrauch von Schrift und Sprache im öffentlichen Raum. Sie ermöglichen nicht nur einen Einblick in die Vielfalt von Sprachen, sondern sie spiegeln auch die sozialen Strukturen einer Stadt oder eines Stadtteils wieder. Es handelt sich dabei z. B. um Verkehrsschilder, Werbe- und Anzeigetafeln, Strassen- und Ortsnamen, Ladenschilder und Beschriftungen an öffentlichen Gebäuden oder Graffiti. Im Beitrag wird der Ansatz der linguistic landscapes behandelt, wobei als Ausgangspunkt die erweiterte Konzeption dient, wie sie sich in den letzten Jahren in der sprachdidaktischen Diskussion herauskristallisiert. An einem konkreten Unterrichtsbeispiel – linguistic landscaping in der tschechischen Stadt Brno (Brünn) – wird das fremdsprachendidaktische Potenzial von Linguistic Landscapes fokussiert.

Abstract (in English)

Linguistic Landscapes are everyday phenomena, such as the use of writing and speech in public spaces. Not only do they provide insight into the diversity of languages, they also reflect the social structures of a city or district. They are for example, traffic signs, advertising and scoreboards, street and place names, shop signs and labels on public buildings or graffiti. In the contribution the approach of the linguistic landscapes is treated, whereby as starting point the extended conception serves, as it crystallizes in the last years in the didactic discussion. A linguistic landscaping in the Czech city of Brno (Brno) focuses on the foreign language didactic potential of Linguistic Landscapes.
