Abstract
Eating habits and physical activities play a crucial role in life of every human. The increased physical and psychological demands on pilots require different nutrition than soldiers whose professions do not involve psychological stress or extreme physical strain. This demanding and responsible profession needs perfectly healthy employees in great condition. 22 civil and 36 military pilots took part in this research. The information about eating habits in civil and military pilots were achieved by anonymous questionnaire. As follow from their answers 59.1 % of civil pilots and 55.6 % of military pilots gained their body weight after starting the job. Military pilots eat in army canteen, where they have meals free of charge and prepared in compliance with street rules respecting the specific needs of pilots on light days. Civil pilots this possibility have not and this could be reason why most of them (77.3 %) feel problems with digestive system. As for problems with locomotor system both of them civil and military pilots are in good condition. Obtained results show that most of military (69.4 %) and civil pilots (merely 36.4 %) are of the opinion that they have sufficient knowledge on principles of rational nutrition. However, none of the respondents reported they always keep these principles; the same number of military and civil pilots claims that they keep the principles mostly (36.1 % of military and 36.4 % of civil pilots) or at least occasionally (36 % of military and 37 % of civil pilots). Concerning the awareness of specific nutrition recommendations for pilots during flight days, majority of military pilots (58.3 %) surprisingly admitted that they do not know these recommendations at all, while 72.2 % of military pilots do not keep them.
