Abstract
In the original language
Natural scientists have for decades been successfully using Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection to explain various biological phenomena. The success of the theory in its modern form (neo-Darwinism) lies in its theoretical precision and clear criteria defining the evolutionary process. Recognizing the explanatory and predictive potential of Darwin's theory, scholars of religion and culture have reached out to it in their attempt to understand cultural processes. In Contemporary Evolutionary Theories of Culture and the Study of Religion, Kundt scrutinizes evolutionary approaches in religious studies and examines how well they meet the stringent criteria of the modern theory of evolution.
