L’autel d’or de la basilique de Saint-Ambroise a' Milan, voulu par l’archeveque Angilbert II (824-859), est considéré comme l’un des plus importants monuments du culte de saint Ambroise dans la ville. Sur les sce'nes de l’autel, la biographie du saint est en effet mise en relation avec celle du Christ lui-meme. Le choix narratif de la Vita ambrosienne semble cependant plus complexe... .

The golden altar of the Basilica of St. Ambrose in Milan, wanted by Archbishop Angilbert II (824-859), is considered one of the most important monuments of the worship of St. Ambrose in the city. On the sides of the altar, the biography of the Saint is in fact put in relation with that of Christ himself. The narrative choice of the Ambrosian Vita looks however more complex ....
