Abstract

The volume offers a selection of papers presented at The Seventh Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English, organized by the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic on the 12-13 September 2016. The conference was dedicated to current trends in English linguistics studies in various genres and discourses. The articles in the volume deal with the language of traditional and new genres, and linguistic issues such as intercultural variation in research article introductions, lexical collocation in current usage, humour in talk show discourse, variation in language used by male and female bloggers, hard news structure, online video tutorials, literary discourse and translation, and English language change as manifested in Oxford English Dictionary.

Abstract (in Czech)

Sborník předkládá vybrané odborné studie, které byly prezentovány na Sedmé brněnské lingvistické konferenci pořádané Pedagogickou fakultou Masarykovy Univerzity v Brně ve dnech 12.-13. září 2016. Ústředním tématem byly současné trendy v oblasti anglických lingvistických studií v rámci různých typů žánru a diskurzu. Studie ve sborníku se zabývají jazykem žánrů tradičních i relativně nových a blíže analyzují např. interkulturní rozdíly v jazyce úvodní části odborných článků, lexikální kolokace současného jazyka, humor v jazyce talk show, genderové rozdíly v jazyce bloggerů, strukturu seriozních novinových zpráv, online vzdělávací videa, literární diskurz a překlad a proces změn v angličtině v kontextu Oxford English Dictionary.
