Abstract
The focus of the paper is a reflection on the state of social work education in the postmodern context. The authors clarify the system of social work education in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on its historical aspects and with regard to the interconnection of theory and practice. The challenges posed to social work education are addressed and some possibilities as to how to respond to them are outlined.
